Randy Lawrence, Partner (1946-2014)

Widely regarded for his creativity in solving technical problems and for sophisticated tax planning and compliance, Randy Lawrence has over 40 years of noteworthy experience in corporate, partnership, and individual taxation. He has a keen ability to distill complex tax issues into clear, concise communications. This capacity has been an invaluable asset to clients of all sizes and industries.

Before co-founding Lawrence & Lewis LLP, Randy was with Kallman and Co LLP, and prior to that he was the lead tax partner at the Century City office of Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser LLP (AM&G), which at the time was the 15th largest CPA firm in the United States. After AM&G was acquired by American Express in 1999, Randy served as the managing director of tax for the Los Angeles office and the California region for American Express Tax & Business Services.

Prior to AM&G, he was the partner in charge of taxation with a Beverly Hills firm for 15 years. Randy began his career in 1973 with a "Big Eight" firm where he focused on international taxation, real estate, and corporate reorganizations. Prior to entering public accounting, Randy was the CFO for a small marketing firm in Southern California. In his career, Randy has successfully handled over 1500 audits, directed tax compliance and monitoring associated with over 250 partnerships, and managed the professional development and counseling of over 60 professionals.

Randy is the Planning Committee and Co-Chair person for California's Annual Tax Accounting Conference, a guest lecturer at USC and Golden Gate College in Master of Business Taxation courses, and a discussion leader, panel member, and frequent lecturer at various Los Angeles and California CPA Society conferences and seminars. He earned a B.A. from California State University, Los Angeles and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California with an emphasis on finance and taxation.
